Accessibility statement

Updated: 2026-07-30Version 1.0

Notify should be usable by everyone — including with a screen reader, with the keyboard alone, with enlarged text or with sensitivity to motion. Accessibility is not a layer we add afterwards: it is a hard requirement in our development rules.

The standard we aim for

We target WCAG 2.2 level AA. As far as we have been able to establish ourselves, Notify largely meets it. No independent audit has taken place yet, so this statement is based on our own assessment.

What we have done

  • Keyboard: every function works without a mouse, with a visible focus ring and a logical order.
  • Screen readers: buttons, states and notifications have a text equivalent. Status changes are announced without the focus jumping away.
  • Contrast: colours come from a fixed token set whose contrast is checked automatically on every change to the code.
  • Motion: if your system asks for reduced motion, we turn animations off.
  • Text size: the whole interface scales with the text setting of your browser or phone; no fixed pixel height cuts text off.
  • Readability: summaries are short, no images carry information, and there are no red badges or counters that create pressure.
  • Writing direction: the layout works left-to-right as well as right-to-left (for Arabic, for example).

What still needs work

We would rather be honest — these are the gaps we know about:

  • No independent accessibility audit has been carried out yet. We want to have one done once the service is out of its start-up phase.
  • Of the 16 languages, Dutch and English are written by people; the other fourteen are machine-translated and not yet fully reviewed. Wording may therefore be clumsy.
  • We have tested with VoiceOver on iOS and with keyboard navigation in Chrome, Safari and Firefox. Other combinations, such as JAWS or NVDA on Windows, have not been systematically covered yet.
  • The admin dashboard has been tested less thoroughly than the app itself.

Reporting a problem

Run into something? Email support@notify.rocks with a short description, the page where it happened and which assistive technology you use. We respond within 5 working days and tell you what we will do about it. If we cannot fix it straight away, we will look for another way to help you.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain via support@notify.rocks or contact the competent supervisory authority in your country.

The Dutch version is binding; translations are provided for convenience.
